Kanti Children’s Hospital (KCH) has a history of forty-five years of devotion to the nation in the field of child health care. It was established in the year 1963 AD under Soviet aid as a general hospital and was converted into Kanti Children's Hospital in the year 1970. Today KCH is 300 bed children’s hospital and it is planned to convert KCH into 500-bed institute of child health in the future. Government of Nepal has given the mandate to the Kanti Children’s Hospital Development Board for the development of infrastructure of institute of child health
Foreign assistance has been instrumental in the growth and development of KCH. During 1970-1998, KCH received aids from German-Nepal Assistance Association. A number of specialized visiting doctors from Britain brought expertise in the area of anesthesiology and surgery.
