Our Objectives

IMMEDIATE OBJECTIVES

1. Develop KCH into a 500 bed-Hospital with teaching, training and research facilities.
2. Develop one year's course leading to Master degree for PG Diploma holders in different specialities.
3. Impart Post Graduate Courses (Master level) under the accreditation of various Universities within and outside the Nation.
4. Update and develop teaching and training curricula for undergraduate and post graduate courses for nurses and paramedicals.
5. Offer elective courses on pediatric health care for domestic and foreign students
6. Train nurses and paramedics, and lab technicians with specific focus on pediatric health care.
7. Set up community pediatric centres for service and training purpose in the periphery.
8. Participation of nongovernmental voluntary organization (NGO) and international nongovernmental voluntary organization (INGO).
9. Impart Biotechnological Training to Health Professionals.
10. Award Fellowship /Membership degree to Health Professionals.

LONG TERM OBJECTIVE

1. Impart Ph. D. / D. Sc. Programs in collaboration with other universities.
2. Obtain support of Government of Nepal, WHO, UNICEF, and World Bank and other donors involved in health sector programs and mobilize technical and financial resources needed for the development of Institute of Child health.
3. Develop specialties and sub-specialties in all aspects of child health like ENT, EYE, Orthopedics, Adoescent Health, Psychiatry.
4. Continue Master and Ph.D / D.Sc Program .
5. Enter into MoU with other hospitals/ institutes who wish to join KCH/ ICH for elective graduate course in pediatric nursing, and paramedics training.
6. Start collaboration with international health institutions in the field of child health care and research.
7 .Develop human resource development and training plans for attaining self- sustainability in HRH to realize the long term "vision" of the ICH.
8. Develop long term financial sustainability plan for ICH and explore alternative financing scheme based on income levels and provision of free service to the poor through subsidies.
9. Set up norms and standards for various type of child health services and child health infrastructures for standardization, accreditation and quality control of child health services provided by GoN, NGO and private sectors.
10. Establishment of Genetic Lab.
11. Start Tele Conference / Tele Medicine.

IMMEDIATE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

1. Improvement in management efficiency through computerization and automation in management of finance, pharmacy, outpatients, in patients, laboratories and property management.
2. Income generation by providing high quality service using fee for service mechanisms targeted at high income group and use the income thus generated to subsidize the poor.
3. Income generation through providing access to services on payment basis in diagnostic center, pathology laboratory and dental clinics.
4. Utilization of public private partnership (PPP) mechanism for better efficiency and quality of services. Outsourcing of services like cleaning, laundry, maintenance of buildings and equipment, and security services will be determined as the needs arise.
5. Collaboration with NGOs and professional society's particularly NEPAS, and jointly run specialty services.
6. Further consolidate the collaboration with Social Action Volunteer (SAV) and seeks collaboration with other similar volunteers/agencies in disease such as epilepsy, mental retardation, physical disability etc.
7. Starting Extended Hospital Services (EHS) in KCH.
